Erectile dysfunction medications took in Glengormley

8 April 2011

Large quantities of unlicensed medicines have been seized by Department of Health officials during a search of a home in Glengormley.

A guy was interviewed by department officers about illegally importing and subsequently supplying medicines through the web.

The 47-year-old was also questioned about other medicine offenses.

He will now be the subject of a report to the general public Prosecution Service.

The search was performed by the department's Medicines Regulatory Group.

Its senior enforcement workplace, Peter Moore, said: "It is essential that we get the message throughout that unlicensed medications can be hazardous.

"These types of items being offered, normally online, have gone through no quality control and there can be no guarantee about their safety.

"You simply do not understand what you are taking or the conditions these items were made in. More notably, you do not know the result drugs like this might have on your health."
