The Middle East is a region where automobile is king and fuel is cheap, typically leaving little incentive to find more environmentally-friendly ways of moving around.
But this year, as protests throughout the Middle East have pressed up the price of oil, the issue of finding alternative sources of fuel has entered sharp focus.
In a region that has one of the greatest carbon footprints worldwide, one business is taking benefit of the growing pressure to find alternatives to oil. It's established the Middle East's very first scheme to recycle cooking oil into biodiesel. It's showing lucrative too, already their client-list contains McDonald's.
